BBVA Viajes+ Employee Card
Decide how to organize your spending every month
-
The BBVA Viajes+ Employee Card is a credit card, so you have flexibility when making your purchases. Your expenses can be charged to your account on the 21st of the month or the 5th of the following month, with several payment methods available:
- Paying for your purchases on the 21st of the settlement month or on the 5th of the following month.
- Paying a fixed amount (with interest).
- Personalizing the payment over 3 to 6 months (with no interest and a deferred payment processing fee based on the deferred amount and period) and over 7 to 36 months (with interest).
- Paying for your purchases on the 21st of the settlement month or on the 5th of the following month.
Travel worry-free
-
The BBVA Viajes+ Employee Card includes insurance that covers most of the incidents you can encounter when traveling:
- Insurance for loss, damage or theft of luggage.
- Insurance for delayed or overbooked flights.
- Cancellation insurance (see insurance policy for conditions).
- Travel accident insurance of up to €760,000.

- ATM theft insurance.
- Insurance for loss, damage or theft of luggage.
How much using the card will cost you
-
The first year of the BBVA Viajes+ Employee Card, the credit card issue and maintenance fee will cost €15. In subsequent years, it will cost €15.
Depending on the type of account you have associated with the card and the products you have with BBVA, you may not have to pay this fee. You will not pay this fee if you finance a transaction over €50 or pay a monthly bill with the deferred payment method (Revolving), using this credit card and at least once a year.
You also get benefits outside the Eurozone
-
If, for example, you travel to the United States and want to buy something there, with other BBVA cards you would pay a 3% fee; with the BBVA Viajes+ Employee Card, the fee is halved (1.5%).
You can pay your monthly credit card bill however you like
- Full payment: pay your monthly credit card bill on the 21st of the same month or the 5th of the following month.
- Deferred revolving payment: pay a fixed amount of the bill on the 21st of each month, with interest. You can also do so on the 5th of the following month, although you will have to pay interest on the amount until the payment date.
What is the interest on a deferred purchase or bill (personalized payment)?
-
With the personalized payment, you can defer the payment of any purchase made with the card or the monthly amount owed, provided this amount is at least €50.
The monthly payments will be for a fixed amount (which includes principal and interest if it is a personalized payment with interest, or principal and fees if it is a personalized payment with fee) and will depend on the term you choose, from a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 36 months. This amount will be charged to the account on the 5th of each month.
The first payment in both cases is different:
- For a personalized payment with interest, it only includes interest.
- For a personalized payment with fee, only the deferral fee is charged.
Once you take out the BBVA Viajes+ Employee Card, you can use both the BBVA app and bbva.es to calculate your monthly payment based on the repayment period you choose.
Example of personalized payment with interest:
- Interest rate: 7.16% per annum.
- Credit limit: €1,500.
You take out the BBVA Viajes+ Employee Card with a limit of €1,500. That same day, for example, April 15, 2024, you make a purchase for the same amount and choose to defer it over 12 months. This is what you would have to pay:
- The first payment will be for €4.41 and it only includes interest.
- The next 12 installments will be for €141.29 each.
- The total amount payable will be €1,558.60 and the APR will be 7.35%.
Example of personalized payment with fee:
- Deferral fee: 1.40%, 1.70%, 2% or 2.25% of the amount financed, depending on the period chosen (3, 4, 5 or 6 months).
- Interest rate: 0% yearly.
- Credit limit €1,500.
Below are some examples of customised payment methods with a fee over 3 to 6 months. The NIR is 0% in every case
You take out the BBVA Viajes+ Employee Card with a limit of €1,500. That same day, for example, April 15, 2024, you make a purchase for the same amount and choose to defer it over 6 months. This is what you would have to pay:
- The first payment will be for €33.75, which only includes the deferral fee, which is 2.25% of the amount financed.
- The next 6 installments will be for €250 each.
- The total amount payable will be €1,533.75 and the APR will be 7.02%.
If you choose to defer it over 5 months, this is what you will have to pay:
- The first payment will be for €30, which only includes the deferral fee, which is 2% of the amount financed.
- The next 5 installments will be for €300 each.
- The total amount payable will be €1,530 and the APR will be 7.13%.
If you choose to defer it over 4 months, this is what you will have to pay:
- The first payment will be for €25.50, which only includes the deferral fee, which is 1.70% of the amount financed.
- The next 4 installments will be for €375 each.
- The total amount payable will be €1,525.50 and the APR will be 7.05%.
If you choose to defer it over 3 months, this is what you will have to pay:
- The first payment will be for €21, which only includes the deferral fee, which is 1.40% of the amount financed.
- The next 3 installments will be for €500 each.
- The total amount payable will be €1,521 and the APR will be 6.96%.
This system applies only to each specific settlement for which it is requested.
What interest do deferred revolving payments have?
-
With the deferred revolving payment, you can pay a fixed amount of your card bill each month. This payment method charges interest.
- Interest rate: 7.16%.
- Credit limit: €1,500.
The monthly payment settlement date is the 20th of each month, but if you have chosen to pay the bill on the 5th and you opted for the deferred payment, you will have to pay interest from the settlement date until the payment date.
The minimum monthly amount is €12, and you can choose any higher amount.
The payment chosen is used to pay the interest and agreed expenses first, and then to repay the loan or the balance you draw down. Because of this, selecting lower payments could lead to a smaller proportion of the principal being repaid every month.
Once you take out the card, you can use both the BBVA app and bbva.es to calculate the repayment period based on your chosen payment method, as well as the total interest payable, if any.
You can also use the Bank of Spain's revolving card simulator to calculate the approximate total card payment or the final payment date, based on the amount and the payment method chosen.
Remember that you can change the payment method for your card whenever you want.
Example of deferred revolving payment with fixed amount: This example complies with the information requirements of Order EHA/1718/2010, which governs and controls the advertising of banking services and products, the conditions of which may not correspond to those of the contract.
If you make a purchase for €1,500 with a NIR of 7.16% and you choose to make a fixed monthly payment of €36.03, you would have to pay:
- 48 monthly payments of €36.03.
- The total amount payable will be €1,729.44 and the APR will be 7.50%.
IMPORTANT: With the settlement system of the BBVA Viajes+ Employee Card, it isn't always possible to repay the credit in 48 equal monthly installments because the minimum amount payable is 3% of the balance drawn. This means that every month, you will pay the higher of the following amounts:
- The selected fee, made up of principal, interest and fees.
- Or 3% of the credit drawn before settlement, plus the interest and fees for the period.
If you get this card and on the same day, for example, April 15, 2024, you make a purchase for €1,500 and choose to make payments of €32 on the 5th of each month, the total amount payable over 48 months, assuming an NIR of 7.16%, would be €1,705.29. The APR will be 7.39%.
Remember that if you decide to pay the bill on the 5th of the month, you will have to pay interest from the settlement date until the payment date.
