How do the limits of the Aqua debit card for teens work?

The Aqua Debit Card for Minors has the following preset limits: A maximum of €200 a day for card payments. A maximum of €200 a day for cash withdrawals. If you want to reduce these limits, you can do so at any BBVA branch.

Is there an annual maintenance fee?

The Aqua debit card has no annual issuance and maintenance fee.

Are there any fees for ATM cash withdrawals?

The fees for withdrawing cash with the Aqua debit card for minors are as follows: BBVA ATMs in Spain: 0%. ATMs of other banks in Spain : BBVA will charge the same fee as the owner of the ATM, which will be shown on the screen before the money is dispensed. ATMs outside Spain : 4.5% (minimum €3). We will refund the fee thanks to the Standard Travel Pack included with the card.

How the Travel Pack works.

If your child travels to another country to study or learn languages, they will be able to use their Aqua debit card for minors and save the usual fees with the Travel Pack. We'll tell you how: When paying in shops and restaurants (whenever they want) In the POS terminal or dataphone, you will have to choose the payment to be made in the country's currency (for example, dollars if it is in the USA). At that time your account will be debited with the exchange rate fee charged by the card brand (such as VISA or Mastercard) for the currency exchange. When the transaction is completed, we will refund the currency exchange fee. When they withdraw cash at ATMs (up to 3 times a month) They can choose any ATM to withdraw cash in another currency. If the ATM asks them to apply the exchange rate, you will have to choose “no” so that we can do it from BBVA. At that time, the following will be charged: the exchange rate fee applied by the card brand and the fee for withdrawing cash at the ATM applied by BBVA. When the transaction is completed, we will refund both fees. The ATM may charge them other fees for each transaction. Since these types of fees do not depend on BBVA, we cannot refund them.

Does the debit card include insurance?

The card includes ATM robbery insurance , with the following conditions: The maximum indemnity limit is €600 per claim and card, and €1,200 per card per year. The insurance coverage extends for 15 minutes after the cash withdrawal is made. To receive the compensation, you must pay €30 as an excess.

If I register my card in stores like Amazon or Netflix, do I have to enter a new CVV every time I make a purchase?

No, you don't have to. Online stores like Amazon or Netflix let you enter your card details the first time you pay with it. Once you've entered the details, you don't have to re-enter a new CVV every time you make a purchase or pay for your subscription.

What if I use the card outside the Eurozone?

A fee of 3% will be applied to the equivalent amount in euros for any transactions you make outside the eurozone, based on the exchange rate in effect for the payment systems on the corresponding settlement date. Before withdrawing cash, the corresponding fees will always be displayed on the ATM screen. We will refund the fee charged for transactions outside the eurozone thanks to the Standard Travel Pack, which is included with your Aqua debit card for minors. The fees are refunded at the same time they are charged, in the account. You can view all the activity on your purchases and withdrawals abroad, and see how much you've saved, all from the app.

What's the difference between a credit and a debit card?

With a debit card , you pay for your purchases immediately with the balance in your account . With the credit card , you have a credit limit so you can buy on the spot and pay when it's best for you: the following month, in installments or with a fixed monthly payment.

What is the CVV security code?

The CVV (Card Verification Value) code on the debit card is used to verify that the person who owns the card is the one making the purchase. This code is usually printed on the back of the physical card. To add one more layer of security, all Aqua Cards feature a dynamic CVV. This code is generated with every online purchase and is only valid for 5 minutes. This way, your money is even more protected against potential fraud or cyberattacks .
